Shupyk National Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education as a leader among postgraduate education institutions in Ukraine conducts active international activities aimed at providing highly competitive edge in the external and internal educational services market.

INTERNATIONAL RECOGNITION OF NMAPE

The Academy has become the first in Ukraine among higher medical educational institutions member society of the International Personnel Academy UNESCO (since 2001), European Academy of Natural Sciences (since 2008), Association of Medical Education in Europe (since 2011). TodayNMAPEisamemberofabout 40 internationalorganizations, including the World Organization of Family Doctors (WONCA), International Academy of Science and Higher Education (IASHE), International Informatization Academy (IIA), etc.

The Academy is included on the registers of the USA:

  • System of International Certification (SIC);
  • Data Universal Numbering System (D-U-N-S);
  • Employer Identification Number (EIN), NATO Commercial and Government Entity (NATO CAGE);
  • Central Contractor Registration (CCR).

Due to this, research and educational personnel of the Academy can receive grants of the Congress of the USA and National Institute of Health of the USA.

AGREEMENTS. PARTNERS

Signing of the cooperation agreement between NMAPE and a leader of European medical educational space Karolinska Institute (Sweden) was an important event.

Karolinska Institute is a world and European leader in medical science and education; it belongs to the top three medical institutions in Europe and the world top ten; it has the exclusive right of conferring the Nobel Prize in Physiology and Medicine.

In 2016 active cooperation with the representatives of the WHO, UNISEF, Federal Government of Germany and others continued. Annually, the list of partners in international cooperation is expanding.

The partners of NMAPE in scientific and medical aspects of cooperation are over 40 institutions, including:

  • Karolinska Institute (Sweden);
  • Colorado State University (the USA);
  • Jagiellonian University (Poland);
  • Royal College of General Practitioners (Great Britain);
  • University of Bari (Italy);
  • Slovak Medical University;
  • Maastricht University (the Netherlands);
  • University of Illinois at Chicago;
  • University of Alberta (Canada).

 

Annually, more than 30-50 foreigndelegations visit the Academy. Over 70 scientists of NMAPE visit foreign countries. Leading scientists from Germany, Greece, Switzerland, Austria, Great Britain have the status of Emeritus Professor and Doctor Honoris Causa of the Academy.

DURING THE LAST YEAR THERE HAVE BEEN IMPORTANT MEETINGS

Meeting with the representatives of the Mission of European Bureau of WHO with the following membership:

- Project manager on health manpower resources Full Professor H. Perfilieva;

- Head of the Department of  Health Manpower Resources of the Ministry of Health of Great Britain Mr. K. Scotter;

- Representative of the Ukrainian office of European Bureau of WHO O. Martynenko. . 

Full Professor, coordinator of the program on international cooperation with 20-years work experience in Ukraine, Belarus, Russia Mr. Tommy Linne has visited the Academy to organize academic mobility as part of Erasmus+ project

Meeting with a delegation of scientists of Tehran University of Medical Sciences (Iran), among them one of the world's leading scientists in immunology, Dean of International Relations at Tehran University, President of Scientific and Educational Organization USERN, Full Professor Nima Rizai.

INTERNATIONAL EXCHANGE OF EXPERIENCE

The Academy provides research and education personnel with an opportunity to become active participants of international projects and plan their own professional development. Recently a joint project with the British Medical Journal (BMJ) has started. Thanks to agreements reached, practitioners received free access to modern scientific databases on issues of infectious diseases and opportunity for distance learning of the European level.

With the participation of Full Professors of Karolinska Institute there has been a training regarding grants, writing research papers, bioethical issues in medical practice and features of cooperation with representatives of the media. The young scientists of the Academy received solid information and a unique opportunity to communicate face-to-face with experts from awarding grants foundations in medicine.

  

Within 10-year-old Ukrainian-Swedish cooperation there was performed Grant Application, Publications, Bioethics Training Course  

PARTICIPATION OF NMAPE IN EXHIBITIONS

  • 8th International Exhibition "Modern Educational Institutions-2017" (15 awards).
  • 7th International Medical Forum "Innovations in Medicine - Health of the Nation" and 5th Anniversary of International Medical Congress "Introduction of Modern Medical Scientific Advances in Public Health Practice of Ukraine" (1 medal, 14 diplomas, 20 appreciations, more than 160 presenters).

TRAINING FOREIGN NATIONALS

Postgraduate training of foreign nationals is under the license of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine in all specialities:

- clinical residency;

- postgraduate training program;

- traineeship.

The admission of students is throughout the year; duration of clinical residency is from two to five years according to the individual education plan under the guidance of leading specialists of clinical and humanitarian departments.

The Academy’s graduates successfully work in clinics of Great Britain, Germany, France, the USA and other countries.

The Academy has initiated implementation of English training for foreign students.

First resident physicians attend lectures, seminars and practical sessions led by English-speaking lecturers of the departments.  

Amaar Salih, resident physician of the Department of Maxillofacial Surgery (Republic of Sudan), was elected to be a foreign representative of Student Self-Governance of the Academy.

COMMISSION ON INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS

There has been created permanent Commission of Academic Board on International Relations which consists of representatives of institutes and faculties, leading specialists of the Academy. Under the leadership of Vice-Rector for International Relations and International Students Research and Training Full Professor Olesia Hulchiy, the members of the commission deal with current issues and offer suggestions regarding further development of international relations of the Academy.
